Why Nutrition Didn’t Work for You (And Why You Shouldn’t Give Up Yet)
How a different approach to fertility nutrition can make all the difference

I think as a functional fertility nutritionist, one of the most frustrating things I hear is that someone has already tried changing their diet and lifestyle… and it didn’t work. So now they’re not interested in trying to change those things anymore.
It’s not that I’m frustrated for me. No friend, I’m frustrated for you.
I’ve totally been there before. Cutting out all my favorite foods, spending hundreds on supplements, and changing everything about my life, only to NOT get the results I wanted.
But after years of studying functional nutrition and using it to heal my own body, I know now how powerful the right nutrition can be. And I know that if you’ve made changes but still don’t have a regular cycle, your cramps didn’t improve, your energy didn’t come back, or you still aren’t pregnant… it doesn’t necessarily mean nutrition “doesn’t work”.
It may simply mean that the changes you made weren’t tailored to what YOUR specific body needed.
Your Unique Body Needs Unique Support
The truth is, I’m not saying that because I think you don’t know your body. I know women going through fertility struggles are more in-tune with their bodies than almost anyone else. You’ve probably noticed every cycle symptom, researched endlessly, and paid detailed attention to things most people wouldn’t bat an eye at.
But the reason your nutrition changes may not be working for you is because our bodies are complex.
Fertility struggles are rarely caused by one single factor, and two women with the same diagnosis can have completely different underlying contributors. One woman may need more support with digestion and hormone metabolism, while another woman needs micronutrient balance and help managing underlying inflammation.
The hard part is putting all the pieces together and figuring out what your body needs most.
I think there is something beautiful about slowing down and remembering that your body was not created randomly. God designed your body with incredible complexity and wisdom, and sometimes our job is simply to listen and learn what it needs. Your body is not your enemy. It is a body worth understanding and caring for with intention.
The Missing Piece
That’s why one of the most important first steps in fertility nutrition is doing a deep dive into your unique health picture. This should be a looonnnngggg, in-depth look at all of your symptoms — from headaches to heartburn to how sensitive your skin is.
Why? Because those details matter!
Looking at different systems – endocrine, immune, digestive, nervous – and even individual organs like your liver and stomach can help uncover where your body needs support. Your symptoms are your body’s way of communicating with you, and when you look at them as part of a bigger picture, you can start to see patterns that point to the deeper issue.
Instead of starting with a generic fertility checklist of foods to eat and supplements to take, you begin with what your body is really asking for.
Once you have all that information, the next step is connecting the dots. The goal is to figure out exactly WHERE and HOW your body needs help.
This is what a true whole-body approach to fertility nutrition should look like.
No More Guesswork
No more guessing you need to cut out dairy because you read it on Google.
No more trying the latest fertility supplement because someone online said it worked for them.
No more feeling like you’re failing because you made changes but didn’t see the results you hoped for.
You need a real, personalized plan based on your body, your symptoms, and your fertility journey.
So if you’ve tried changing your diet before and felt discouraged because it didn’t work, I want you to know this: it doesn’t mean your body can’t respond to nutrition. It may simply mean you need a more tailored plan.
You Don't Have to Figure it Out Alone
This is exactly the type of intentional strategy I use inside my mini 1:1 program, Nourished Beginnings, where we identify the areas your body needs the most support and create a plan based on your unique needs.
Don’t give up on fertility nutrition until you’ve tried it with a whole-body, personalized approach!
You can learn more about Nourished Beginnings here, through a personalized Cycle + Nutrition review, or just by sending me a message.
It’s an honor to help you understand your body better, my friend.
